Currently we are translating the stories of many eminent authors from West Bengal and Bangladesh, i.e., Rabindranath Tagore, Mahasweta Devi, Humayun Ahmed Syed Mujtaba Ali, Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Binayak Bandopadhyay and Selina Hossain to name a few, and working to publish an Anthology of Bengali short stories (twenty-four to be exact for this volume) . This book is now ready to be published.
Many of the stories can be used for South Asian Studies and Women's studies area. This wonderful book of classic Bengali translated stories (original ones are written in Bengali from both Bengals, and cover over one hundred years of time frame) are wonderfully translated to the global readers, into English.
As we all know, over the past decade, a confluence of geographic, historical, economic, geologic, and political factors has shaped South Asia, and an eagerness of learning the stated region is growing, immensely. We strongly believe, the literature is a true mirror of the society, this book will help the readers to know the region's culture and society as a whole.
Bengali Literature Goes Global (BLGG, www.blggweb.com), with its team of extremely talented and dedicated individuals (all volunteers), is currently translating and publishing outstanding stories from Bengal.Our esteemed translators are: Gayatri Chakrabarty Spivak, Arunava Sinha, Ranjan Mukherjee, Haimanti Dorai and Gouri Datta.
